Planet Zoo 2 launched on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on the same day — 13 October 2026. The pages in this section break down how each platform version performs and what extras, such as the console complexity meter or Xbox Play Anywhere, come with it. You will also find the status of platforms that are not supported, from macOS to Nintendo Switch.

The launch line-up covers three platforms, all released on 13 October 2026: PC (Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Store listings add platform-specific badges on top — the PlayStation version is marked PS5 Pro Enhanced, the Xbox version is Optimised for Series X|S and carries the Xbox Play Anywhere label, and the PC build is Steam Deck Verified. Frontier has stated that the game is designed to play well on every supported platform, with both gamepad and keyboard-and-mouse input available everywhere, and the console versions gain one exclusive tool: a complexity meter that keeps performance stable as your zoo grows. For a full deep dive on the Microsoft side, see the Planet Zoo 2 Xbox guide, and for the launch timing itself, check the release date page.

Just as important is what is not supported. Frontier's own FAQ rules out previous-generation consoles and Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, and a dedicated help entry confirms there are no plans for a native macOS release. Mac owners and players without high-spec hardware are pointed instead to GeForce NOW, the NVIDIA cloud streaming service Frontier has partnered with — the only officially supported way to play on a Mac. Subscription services are another common question: as of launch, the game is not included in any Game Pass tier, and no PlayStation Plus inclusion is shown on the PlayStation listing either.
